Tuition Works Newsletter No 17 July 2009
Your children have achieved many milestones in term two. Fifteen students were enrolled in The Even Start programme, which finished in mid May.  All students improved dramatically, when compared to their starting point. The majority of Even Start students have chosen to stay at TuitionWorks and we extend to them a warm welcome.  We would also like to welcome all the new parents and students who have enrolled in term 2.The NAPLAN tests have been completed. Most students are quietly confident having had the benefit of completing practice exams at TuitionWorks. The two additional courses held through the term, Conquering Homework for years seven and eight and Essay Writing for years 10-12 proved popular.  The demand for Essay Writing for years 10-12 has prompted us to run the course once again in term three.

Friday Workshops
Our Friday Maths and English have run successfully through this term. Many students from Years 8-12 have taken the opportunity to come to these sessions. There is no need to book, just turn up. Students are encouraged to bring in work that is creating problems. We hope that many students will take advantage of this valuable help as they approach examinations. It would be particularly pertinent for students sitting major exams to start attending these sessions. Don’t leave it until the week before.  Friday 4-6pm and the cost is only $20. This workshop is only available to students of the learning centre.

Missed Lessons
We understand that it is unavoidable to miss lessons from time to time. We offer a catch up to replace the lesson missed. We encourage students to try and make lessons to avoid difficulties in trying to fit in an alternative time. Please do not assume that an alternative time will be available as we restrict class sizes for the benefit of all students. Reading classes will have their lessons mailed out to them the day after their missed lesson.  Missed lessons must be made up in the term they were missed.

Loyalty Discount
For the past twelve years we have been successful for two reasons. We have given high quality tutoring and we have had fantastic support from the parent body. We have asked that if you are happy with what we offer please tell others and if you are not happy please tell us.
To thank parents for these referrals we offer a loyalty discount. If you refer us and a student enrols as a result of that referral, we will give your child a free lesson for that term. Two referrals would amount to two free lessons etc. Please make sure that the enrolling student identifies you as the person who referred them, so that we may adjust your account. This offer only applies to new students.

Fees
Fees have remained unchanged for the past three years. We would like to continue to cap these fees for 2009. Please make sure prompt payment is made for tuition. We offer a discount of $4 per lesson if fees are paid a term in advance and $2 per lesson if fees are paid half term in advance. If your child is enrolled in more than one subject or you have two children attending an automatic discount of $4 per lesson is allowed. If your circumstances have changed and you have problems with your account please contact us as soon as possible so that we can make alternative arrangements.

Year 12 Tuition Term 4.
Year 12 tuition continues in term 4 up until the date of the student’s examination. This gives student time before the exams to ask questions and complete practice papers. Many students in the past came to more than one lesson in the weeks preceding the exams and use the Friday Workshops for revision. All lessons taken in term 4 by year 12 will be billed at $39 per lesson.

Year 10 Term 4.
We will start teaching the year 11 syllabus when year 10 finishes their School Certificate Examinations. We have found that students benefit from the introduction to year 11 course work by continuing their tutoring programme.
We look forward to a very challenging Term Three.
